It feels like it has been such a long time since my parents were visiting us but it has only been a week since they left! We had so much fun with them and we did so much! So much, that it took me two days to upload all of our pictures to this blog... and the pictures only show some of the things that we did!
We started out by visiting Mt. Vernon (which was on of my favorite things that we did)! Mt. Vernon is where George Washington's home was and where he is currently buried.
They even had Washington's servants there to show us what his life was like.
On Sunday we visited Arlington National Cemetery and watched the changing of the guards! We also got to meet up with my mom's aunt Colleen, her husband Paul, and two of their sons, Ethan and Isaiah.
On Tuesday, we got to tour the capitol!
On Thursday, we toured Ford's Theater where President Lincoln was shot.
And, Later that night, we went up to the top of the Washington monument to get a good look at the city.
On Friday, we went to the Bureau of Engravings and then decided to go paddle boating on the Potomac. We had record-breaking heat when my parents were visiting so, it probably wasn't the smartest idea but it sure is funny-- now that we can look back on it :)
That evening, we went on a segway tour of the city. It was a blast! It was fun to ride the segways and the tour was pretty good too!
We had so much fun with my parents and crossed off most of the things on our site-seeing to do list that we have been wanting to do! We loved staying in the city, going out to eat, sweating profusely, beating my parents at sequence, going to the national bbq, and spending time together! Thanks for everything!
Beating us at Sequence? Funny! What a great trip! And what great pictures! We loved DC and we love you!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the pictures! We wish we could have been there, and that it was cooler weather. Glad you had a great visit!
